Come by this Thursday, November 17 for the opening reception of Body Ruins, a solo exhibit of prints, drawing, and sculpture by Andrea Roberts.
Broken tools, skins of plastic, hi-top sneakers cast in lead, limbs protruding from repeating grids: Body Ruins is a collection of drawings, prints and sculpture that look at vulnerability, futility and failure of the gendered body within capitalism. Merging the visual systems of resource extraction, city planning, construction and navigation, these works look at that which we cannot do, places we cannot go, rather than our supposed endless potential, instilling pathos and humour into the prevailing dream of perfection and choice.
The opening runs from 7pm until 10pm at Negative Space, 253 Princess Street. Body Ruins runs until November 26.
